PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (May 3, 2018) - Stone Crabs first baseman Nathaniel Lowe has been named the Florida State League Player of the Month, Minor League Baseball announced Thursday.
Two days after being named the FSL Player of the Week, Lowe has captured the league's monthly honor for April.
"It's an honor to receive this award," Lowe said. "There's a lot of great players in the league right now and in the past. I didn't try to do too much, just let the game play itself out. I had a lot of guys on base in front of me, so a lot of credit goes to them for setting the table."
The Mississippi State product led the league in batting (.393) for the month, also pacing the circuit in hits (35), total bases (57), on-base percentage (.640) and OPS (1.100). He was second in the league in RBI (24), doubles (7) and extra-base hits (12).
Lowe is currently first in the Tampa Bay organization in batting average and RBI while jointly sharing the system's home run lead with his teammate, Jesús Sánchez .
The 22-year-old was selected in 13th Round in 2016. He hit .293 with 35 RBI in 63 games for Low-A Bowling last season before being promoted to the Stone Crabs on June 27.
