Nationally-Recognized LBGTQ+ Activist Candace Gingrich To Host Fan Q&A Session On PRIDE Night
On Saturday, June 22, the Eugene Emeralds will hold the organization's first-ever PRIDE Night, in celebration of the Eugene/Springfield LGBTQ+ community. The event is proudly presented by local companies Kendall Toyota, Ninkasi Brewing Company, KMTR NBC 16, and the Bier Stein.

As part of the event, the Emeralds will host an informal Q&A session with nationally-recognized LGBTQ+ activist Candace Gingrich, moderated by Rebecca Flynn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions.
Candace Gingrich -- who has been an activist at the national level since 1995, when sibling Newt Gingrich rose to political prominence -- identifies as gender queer and can address a broad range of subjects including coming out, gender identity, workplace protections, and more.
The PK Park gates will open at 5pm on Saturday, June 22 and the Q&A session will begin shortly thereafter on the third base side of the PK Park concouse, above sections 8-9. The discussion will end at approximately 6pm while the game starts at 7:05pm.
Fans must present a valid game ticket to attend the Q&A session.
During the game, fans will have a chance to bid on the game-worn Emeralds PRIDE jerseys via silent auction. Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to HIV Alliance, a nonprofit organizaiton formed here in Eugene to support people living with HIV/AIDS and prevent new HIV infections.
The first-ever PRIDE Night at PK Park comes as Minor League Baseball is hosting the largest Pride celebration in sports with nearly 70 teams partnering with more than 150 local LGBTQ+ organizations to host a multitude of Pride events across the country.
MiLB Pride uses the game of baseball to bring communities together and proactively engage and embrace the LGBTQ+ community with a focus on creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.
