Navarro Leads Bees to Third Straight Win

Bees score twice in the 11th to beat Peoria

(Peoria, IL) - Franklin Navarro drove in a pair of runs in the 11th inning, leading the Burlington Bees (50-67) to a 4-2 win over the Peoria Chiefs (56-61) on Saturday night at Dozer Park.

Bees' starter Chris Rodriguez worked five scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and striking out five. Peoria's starter Austin Warner matched Rodriguez and threw seven shutout innings of his own, keeping the game scoreless. 
Peoria opened the scoring in the bottom of the seventh inning. Stefan Trosclair started the inning with a triple to right. The next batter, Matt Fiedler, lined out to the pitcher Ty Barkell, keeping Trosclair at third base. Danny Hudzina then gave Peoria the lead by doubling to left, scoring Trosclair. Ty Barkell was able to get out of the inning with no further damage.
Trailing by a run in the ninth, Leonardo Rivas started the inning with a bunt single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jonah Todd. After Brennan Morgan walked, Richie Fecteau lined a single to right, scoring Rivas, tying the game at one. The next batter, Brandon Sandoval, singled to left, scoring Morgan, putting the Bees on top, 2-1. 
Peoria put the lead off man on in the bottom of the ninth inning when Mike Fiedler singled to left. After a fly out and a walk, Mick Fennell singled to left, scoring Fiedler tying the game at two. 
Leo Rivas started the top of the 11th inning with a single to left and moved to second on a walk drawn by Jonah Todd. After both runners moved over on a Brennan Morgan groundout, Richie Fecteau as intentionally walked, loading the bases. With two outs, Franklin Navarro dropped a single into left, scoring both Rivas and Todd, giving the Bees the lead at 4-2. 
Justin Kelly (2-2) would work around an error in the bottom of the eleventh to secure the 4-2 win. Max Almonte (2-3) was charged with the loss. The Bees and the Chiefs will continue the series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Dozer Park. Erik Manoah Jr. will make the start for the Bees against Anthony Shew for the Chiefs.
