LAKEWOOD, NJ - BlueClaws LHP Nick Fanti has been named South Atlantic Player of the Month for May after going 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA over four May starts.
The left-hander from Smithtown, New York gave up three earned runs in 25 2/3 innings of work in May. He allowed 12 hits with six walks and 31 strikeouts.
On May 6th, Fanti and reliever Trevor Bettencourt combined on a no-hitter in Columbia, with Fanti recording the first 26 outs of the game. It was the fifth no-hitter in BlueClaws history.
Overall this year, Fanti is 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA and will be the starting pticher for the Northern Division in the 2017 South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 20th in Columbia.
Fanti is the first BlueClaws South Atlantic League Player of the Month since outfielder Herlis Rodriguez in June of 2015.
