No. 1 Prospect OF Spencer Jones Promoted To Double-A Somerset

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The New York Yankees have announced the promotion of No. 1 prospect OF Spencer Jones from the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades to the Double-A Somerset Patriots.

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The New York Yankees have announced the promotion of No. 1 prospect OF Spencer Jones from the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades to the Double-A Somerset Patriots.

Jones has spent the entire 2023 season in Hudson Valley where he slashed .268/.337/.45o with 62 R, 110 H, 28 2B, 4 3B, 13 HR, 56 RBI and 35 SB before his call up to Somerset. He led the Renegades in multi-hit games (28) and held a 17-game on-base streak from June 29 – July 27.

He ranks among the organizational leaders in 2B (1st), XBH (T-1st,45), 3B (T-2nd), H (3rd), SB (3rd), TB (4th,185), and R (6th).

Jones was selected to represent the American League in the 2023 MLB All-Star Futures Game on July 8 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, along with fellow Yankees prospect RHP Clayton Beeter (No. 16).

The Encinitas, CA native was the Yankees 2022 1st Round Pick (25th Overall) out of Vanderbilt. He played most of his first professional season last year in Tampa where hit .325/.411/.494 with 18 R, 27 H, 5 2B, 3 HR, and 8 RBI in 22 games. After the season, Baseball America labeled Jones the “Best Athlete” in the Yankees system.
