Taylor Jungmann earned his sixth win of the season while Mauricio Dubón and Kyle Wren combined for seven RBI to lead the Sky Sox to a rain-shortened 12-4 win over the Tacoma Rainiers in front of 2,755 at Security Service Field Wednesday afternoon.

Jungmann (6-1, 2.93) threw six quality innings in his first outing against the Rainiers since 2014. The right-hander retired the first 16 batters faced en route to six one-hit innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven batters. The one hit is the fewest amount of hits allowed by Jungmann this season since June 4 in Oklahoma City.
Colorado Springs (62-39) cracked the scoreboard during their first at-bats, taking a 1-0 lead without recording a hit. After Wren drew a leadoff walk and took second on a fly ball, Tacoma shortstop Taylor Motter threw Ivan De Jesus' grounder over first baseman Dan Vogelbach's head, allowing the Sox to take an early lead.
The Sox used some small ball during a three-run second inning that saw just two balls leave the infield. With two outs, Wren grounded a single up the middle to score Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who drew one of two two-out walks issued by Tacoma starter Chase De Jong. One batter later, Dubon grounded a bunt single down the third base line, allowing Yadiel Rivera to score the third run. Wren would come home during Keon Broxton's at-bat via a De Jong wild pitch to close out the frame.
The hosts took a commanding lead with a five-run fifth inning. Tyler Heineman capped a string of three straight singles to open the inning, winning the nine-pitch battle with a RBI single to left field to score De Jesus, who singled to extend his on-base streak to 42 games.
With one out in the frame, Nieuwenhuis lined his second single of the game to right field to score Nick Noonan, while Rivera lined a RBI double for his third hit in as many at-bats to score Heineman. Wren followed Rivera's double with a two-bagger of his own into the left field corner, scoring Nieuwenhuis and Rivera.
Dubon would provide the day's exclamation point in the seventh inning, launching an opposite-field three-run home run over the right field wall. The third Triple-A home run for the second baseman scored Rivera and Wren as the Sky Sox combined to score 25 runs over the first two games of the series.
The four-game series heads back under the lights for game three Thursday night at 6:40 p.m. MT. RHP Paolo Espino (4-1, 3.84 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Sky Sox against Tacoma RHP Christian Bergman (8-1, 3.34). Thursday night is another $3 Thirsty, presented by RMC Coors, as well as another Military Appreciation Night, presented by the Phil Long Dealerships.
