A five-run second inning propelled the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (28-13, 60-55) past the Round Rock Express (24-17, 55-61), 10-2, on Wednesday night at Dell Diamond, capturing the 600^th career victory for Space Cowboys’ Manager Mickey Storey.

After a scoreless first inning, the Space Cowboys opened the scoring in the top of the second. Trenton Brooks singled before Collin Price launched a two-run home run to left field to give Sugar Land an early 2-0 lead. Lucas Spence then worked a walk and César Salazar singled to put two runners aboard. Pascanel Ferreras followed with an RBI double before a fielding error allowed Salazar to score, extending the Space Cowboys’ advantage to 4-0. Two wild pitches brought Ferreras home to plate another run, capping the five-run frame.

The Express plated two unearned runs of their own in the bottom of the second, but RHP Ryan Weiss entered with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and worked out of the jam without allowing a run. It was part of a night where Weiss tossed 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out four.

The Space Cowboys added back to their lead in the fifth when CJ Alexander launched his second home run of the series, pushing Sugar Land’s advantage to 6-2.

RHP Logan VanWey took over for Weiss in the seventh and fired a perfect inning, striking out two.RHP Michael Knorr then worked a perfect eighth, inducing two groundouts and a lineout.

Sugar Land put the game out of reach in the top of the ninth. With two outs, Brooks worked a walk before Price launched his second home run of the night, extending the Space Cowboys’ lead to 8-2. After Lucas Spence reached on an error, Salazar followed with his third home run of the season, a two-run blast to left field that pushed the advantage to 10-2.

RHP Christian Roa worked around a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth, striking out two to close out the victory and even the series at one game apiece.

NOTABLE:

Collin Price went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI on Wednesday night. It was Price’s first home run since June 17 at Albuquerque, when he also hit two homers. Price’s two home runs left the bat at 105.4 mph and 104.0 mph, respectively, marking the second and third hardest- hit balls of the game. It was also Price’s third multi-homer game of the season and fifth of his career.
CJ Alexander went 2-for-4 with a home run on Wednesday night, extending his RBI streak to nine games, the longest RBI streak by a Space Cowboys player this season. Alexander’s nine-game RBI streak is the longest by a Space Cowboys player since Will Wagner recorded a 10-game streak in 2024. Alexander has now homered in three consecutive games and owns a 12-game on-base streak and nine-game hitting streak. Over his last 12 games, Alexander is 17-for-57 (.298) with five doubles, seven home runs, 21 RBI, eight walks and 12 runs scored.
Pascanel Ferreras went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and run scored on Wednesday night. Ferreras has now driven in a run in three consecutive games dating back to August 2. After being reinstated from the injured list on August 11, Ferreras has recorded a multi-hit game in each of his first two games since returning.
RHP Ryan Weiss has worked out of the bullpen in each of his last two outings. Across those two appearances, Weiss has thrown 5.2 innings, allowing six hits and one unearned run while walking two and striking out six.
Trenton Brooks went 2-for-3 with a run scored on Wednesday night, extending his on-base streak to eight games. The multi-hit performance marked Brooks’ first multi-hit game against Round Rock since June 13, 2025, when he was a member of the El Paso Chihuahuas.
RHP Michael Knorr has not allowed a run in four appearances during the month of August. Knorr has thrown 4.2 innings this month, allowing just one hit while walking two and striking out two.
César Salazar went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored on Wednesday night. The home run marked Salazar’s second against Round Rock this season, with his first coming April 25 in Game one of a doubleheader.

The Space Cowboys will look to take a series lead on Thursday night. RHP Jason Alexander will start for Sugar Land, while LHP Dalton Pence will get the start for the Express.
