Olivo Snags Appy Pitcher Honor

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla- Week 10 of Minor League Baseball Player and Pitcher of the week honors have rolled in as the Appalachian League's final representatives for the 2017 season include second baseman Trey Hair from Princeton and southpaw Aneury Olivo from Kingsport for games played August 28-Septemeber 4.
The award from the Ray is one of many on the season as Hair's Appalachian League Offensive Player of the Week honor is the sixth award bestowed on the Princeton club this season. The second baseman claims the batting award a week after fellow teammate, and catcher, Ronald Hernandez took home the award and weeks following Riley O'Brian, Tyler Day and Maximo Castillo who were named Pitcher of the Week at some point this season.
Olivo collects Kingsport's third weekly award this season as outfielder Dionis Paulino and third baseman Rigoberto Terrazas picked up Player of the Week honors consecutively for week five and six of action. The southpaw is the first pitcher the league has recognized from Kingsport in the past two seasons.  
Both Princeton (31-36) and Kingsport (29-37) capped its season with the regular season-finale on August 31 with fourth-place finishes in the respected Appalachian League divisions. The chase for the league crown is currently underway as Pulaski is set to represent the East while either Greeneville or Elizabethton will reach the championship from the western division once Game 3 is wrapped and completed Wednesday evening.
Hair finished the 2017 season with a respectable .286/.388/.535 slash line with 10 homers, 49 RBIs, 42 runs, 18 doubles and 62 hits in 58 games played. The 10 home runs on the season tied for second in the Appalachian League while the 49 RBIs were ranked in the top-5 in the category.
On the week, Hair finished the season strong going 7-for-15 at the plate with a homer, a triple, four RBIs, two runs scored, two walks and a slash line of .467/.529/.933 in four games played. The second baseman tallied three, two-hit days with two multi-RBI contests during the week as Princeton finished the year with four-straight wins during the stretch.
Olivo saved his best for his last start on the mound to conclude the 2017 campaign as the southpaw picked up the victory over Elizabethton in the season-finale after tossing six shutout innings on the bump with two strikeouts and only two hits surrendered. Kingsport won the contest 8-0 over the Elizabethton Twins for its first win over the rival on the season.
Prior to the start, Olivo had experienced a rough sate of appearances since his promotion from the GCL at the beginning of August. The southpaw ends the year with a record of 1-1 in six starts with an ERA of 5.65 over 28 2/3 innings. Olivo struck out 18 batters on the year with 15 walks while opposing hitters tallied a .283 average against.
