BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Biloxi Shuckers had dropped four straight entering Thursday's contest and had a tall order ahead of them with White Sox prospect Michael Kopech on the mound for the Birmingham Barons. But thanks to a 3-for-5 night from Angel Ortega  and the steady pitching of Aaron Wilkerson , the Shuckers got back in the win column and evened up their road series with a 6-4 victory.
The game was delayed for 1 hour, eight minutes at the beginning of the game due to rain and finished in a downpour at Regions Field.

Ortega had three hits, including an RBI double, to lead the offensive outburst against Kopech (L, 4-5) and the Barons. Kopech, who was named to the All-Star Futures Game roster earlier in the day, lasted a season-low 3.0 innings against the Shuckers, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out only three.
The first two Biloxi runs came on sacrifice flies from Gabriel Noriega and Jacob Nottingham in the second and third. With two outs in the third, Clint Coulter lined a two-run single over the glove of Barons second baseman Jake Peter to extend the lead to 4-0. Art Charles added an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single.
Wilkerson (W, 6-3) allowed three runs in the fifth but worked 5.2 innings to earn his team-leading sixth win. Nick Ramirez and Josh Uhen pitched scoreless baseball to take the game to the ninth, where Matt Ramsey (S, 17) worked around a run and a sudden downpour to complete the game and take sole possession of the Southern League lead in saves.
Allemand was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double while Coulter was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
The Shuckers continue their series at Birmingham on Friday night as Taylor Williams faces off against Spencer Adams. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm, with the Beau Rivage Pregame Show starting at 6:45 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available at biloxishuckers.com, MiLB.TV and TuneIn Radio.

The Shuckers return to MGM Park after the All-Star break, June 22-June 26 to take on the Mississippi Braves for a five-game homestand.
