Hickory, NC- The Crawdads won their third straight game on Thursday night, beating the Bowling Green Hot Rods 9-3.

Bowling Green hit a solo homerun in the top of the first but didn’t hold on to their lead for long.

Alejandro Osuna led off the home half of the first with a solo shot of his own. Geisel Cepeda followed up with a single and was able to advance to second on a wild pitch during the next at bat. Abimelec Ortiz singled in Cepeda to put the ‘Dads ahead 2-1.

The Crawdads struck again in the second. Jayce Easley walked, and Osuna hit his second homerun of the night, making it a 4-1 game.

Josh Hatcher knocked the Crawdads third homer of the night in the third to put them ahead by four.

Bowling Green managed to get a run back in the fourth with a homerun.

Keyber Rodriguez and Frainyer Chavez led off the bottom of the sixth with singles up the middle. Cooper Johnson picked up the third straight hit to send in Rodriguez and put runners at the corners. Easley kept things going with a bunt single that scored Chavez. The rally continued as Cepeda picked up a bloop single that gave the Crawdads their 8th run. During the next at bat, a wild pitch allowed a siding Easley to slide into home.

The Hot Rods picked of their third run of the night on another homerun in the seventh inning.

On the mound for the Crawdads, Larson Kindreich tossed five innings, allowing two runs, three hits and two walks. He struck out eight. Bradford Webb recorded the next five outs, giving up a run along the way. Florencio Serrano took the ‘Dads the rest of the way, pitching the last 2.1 innings and giving up just one hit.

Tomorrow evening is Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond Night and post-game fireworks thanks to People’s Bank, McDonald’s Family Restaurants, and KICKS 103.3. It is also a Catawba Science Center Night and members can show their ID for 2 free tickets.
