Tulsa Drillers outfielder James Outman has been playing at the Double-A level for just over two weeks, but he has had an almost immediate impact. Today, he was recognized for his strong play by being named the Double-A Central Hitter of the Week. He becomes the first Tulsa hitter to receive the award this season.

Outman received the honor after a strong series in Springfield against the Cardinals that ran from August 2-8. In six games last week, he hits .444 (12-27) with 7 extra-base hits, including 3 home runs. He also scored 9 runs and drove in 4.

He has hit safely in eight consecutive games, going 15-39 (.385) during the streak.

Outman has also reached base safely in all 15 games he has played with the Drillers, and overall has reached base in 18 straight games, dating back to the final three games he played in Class-A with Great Lakes.

Northwest Arkansas pitcher Austin Cox was named the Double-A Central Pitcher of the Week.
