Owlz Dominance of Idaho Falls Continues

The Orem Owlz continued their dominance of the Idaho Falls Chukars this season with a 15-8 victory for their third straight win.
The win advances Orem to an incredible 9-1 record vs. Idaho Falls this year, having taken the first three games of the four-game series.
The Owlz drew a season-high 14 walks in the game, beginning with eight off of the Chukars starting pitcher Julio Pinto.
Pinto entered his third start against the Owlz after having struggled mightily in the first two, allowing 11 earned runs in two and a third innings of work, which was good enough for a 46.29 ERA vs. Orem.
Pinto failed to put those demons behind him, walking the first batter of the game, Torii Hunter Jr. Jr.
Hunter ended his first career game batting leadoff having gone 2-4 at the plate with two walks, two runs scored and a run batted in.
Hunter came home just two pitches later when Brandon Marsh deposited an 0-1 pitch over the batter's eye in center field for his second career home run.
The home run ended up being Marsh's only hit on the night, while he also drew a walk and scored two runs.
Idaho Falls came storming back with three runs off of Owlz starter Mayky Perez in the second on third innings to tie the game at three after two innings.
Owlz first baseman Jeyson Sanchez then doubled the Owlz' run total, with an RBI-single in the third inning and a two-RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Owlz a 6-3 lead.
Idaho Falls then came back to tie the game once again by scoring three runs off of right-handed pitcher Simon Mathews in the sixth inning to make the score 6-6.
Mathews then settled in nicely, hurling two and two thirds of an inning, en route to picking up the first win of his career in an Owlz uniform.
The Owlz gave him a lead entering the seventh inning after putting up six runs in the sixth inning to blow the game open with a decisvie 12-6 lead.
Harrison Wenson got the scoring started in the six-run inning by drawing a bases loaded walk, part of a career-high three walks drawn by Wenson on the night.
Idaho Falls pitcher Jeremy Gwinn walked five batters and gave up one hit in the inning, picking up his second loss of the season, while allowing all six earned runs in the sixth inning.
Angel Molina capped the six-run inning inning with a two-run double that brought home Keinner Piña and Manuel Guzman to give the Owlz a comfortable six-run lead.
Even then, the Owlz were far from done.
Franklin Torres and Torii Hunter each picked up run-scoring hits in the eighth inning to give the Owlz a game-high nine-run lead over the Chukars.
Manuel Guzman then brought home one more run with his third hit of the night in the ninth inning, to cap the Owlz' scoring output at 15 runs.
Guzman ended up going 3-3 with three walks on the night, reaching base six times to extend his league-best on-base percentage to .496.
All-Star relief pitcher Daniel Procopio pitched the ninth inning for the Owlz, allowing a career-high two earned runs to account for the game's final score of 15-8.
The win advances the Owlz to 27-11-1 on the season, and 1-0 in the second half of the Pioneer League season.
The Owlz will attempt their first four-game series sweep of the season tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch at Melaleuca Field scheduled for 4:05 MT.
