(Orem, UT) - The Orem Owlz (25-40) battled back to send the game to extra innings before losing the series finale, 10-8, to the Grand Junction Rockies (31-33) in 10 innings on Tuesday night at the Home of the Owlz.

(Orem, UT) - The Orem Owlz (25-40) battled back to send the game to extra innings before losing the series finale, 10-8, to the Grand Junction Rockies (31-33) in 10 innings on Tuesday night at the Home of the Owlz.

Grand Junction picked up from where they left off on Monday, scoring four runs in the first inning. Julio Carreras and Ezequiel Tovar singled to start the game and then Christian Koss loaded the bases, reaching on an error. Colin Simpson then smacked his 16th homer of the season, a grand slam, giving the Rockies a 4-0 lead.
Jose Reyes made his Owlz debut on Tuesday night and made an immediate impact. Reyes homered in his first at-bat, hitting a solo shot to right, to cut the Owlz deficit to 4-1 in the third inning.
The Rockies got that run back and added another in the sixth inning. Tovar and Koss recorded back-to-back singles to start the inning. Colin Simpson drove in his fifth run of the night with a sacrifice fly and then Bladimir Restituyo singled in another, extending the Rockies lead to 6-1.
Jeremiah Jackson opened the bottom of the sixth inning with a double to left. D'Shawn Knowles then drove in the Owlz first run since the second inning, doubling down the left field line, scoring Jackson, cutting the Rockies' lead to 6-2. Reyes then drove in his second run of the game by chopping a single into right, scoring Knowles to make it a three-run game at 6-3.
The Owlz made it a one-run game in the seventh inning when D'Shawn Knowles knocked in a pair with a two-out single. The Owlz went on to tie game in the ninth inning. Morgan McCullough singled to lead off the inning and the was pinch ran for by Drevian Williams-Nelson . Williams-Nelson came home to score on a Cristian Gomez triple, tying the game at six, sending the game to extra innings.
Grand Junction scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning without the benefit of a hit, taking a 10-6 lead as the Owlz committed a pair of errors in the inning. Caleb Scires brought the Owlz back to within two runs in the ninth inning with a two-run homer.
Rockies' reliever Gavin Hollowell (3-0) earned the win while Darrien Williams (2-3) was charged with the loss. The Owlz welcome in the Rocky Mountain Vibes on Wednesdy night at 6:35 to open up a three-game series. For tickets visit oremowlz.com or call the Owlz at (801) 377-BALL (2255).
