Williams-Nelson drives in winning run in five run ninth

(Colorado Springs, CO) - The Orem Owlz (25-36) didn't score until the ninth inning on Thursday night, scoring five runs to beat the Rocky Mountain Vibes (26-34) 5-2 at UCHealth Park.

The VIbes jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Carlos Rodriguez walked and then stole second. With two outs, Bryan Torres singled to scored Rodriguez, putting the Vibes in front.
Rocky Mountain added to the lead in the fourth inning with yet another big two out hit. Cam Devanney walked with one out and then stole second base. With two outs, Jess Williams singled through the left side, extending the lead to 2-0.
The Owlz were held off the scoreboard until the ninth inning. Trailing 2-0, Morgan McCullough led off the frame with a double and moved to third base when Brandon White reached second on a two-base error. Anthony Mulrine then tied the game, grounding a single to center, scoring both McCullough and White for Mulrine's second consecutive game with two RBIs. After a Justin Kunz double put runners at second and third, Drevian Williams-Nelson picked up his second hit of the game, driving in Mulrine and the Owlz got another run when Kunz scored on the errant throw to home plate. D'Shawn Knowles capped off the five run inning with a double, pushing the Owlz lead to 5-2.
Darrien Williams (2-2) worked a scoreless eighth to keep the Owlz close and then came back out to shut the door in the ninth, earning his second win of the season. Maiker Pinto (3-1) was charged with the loss.
The Owlz and the Vibes will continue the series on Friday night at 6:40. Kelvin Moncion makes the start for the Owlz against Michele Vassalotti for the Vibes.
