Owlz win second straight game in 12-7 victory over Billings

OREM - The Owlz grabbed their second straight win on Sunday night, beating the Mustangs 12-7.The Owlz kicked things off by getting four runs in the opening inning. Livan Soto scored after Francisco Del Valle grounded out. This was followed by a run from Mitch Spires. Then, Tim Millard scored

OREM - The Owlz grabbed their second straight win on Sunday night, beating the Mustangs 12-7.
The Owlz kicked things off by getting four runs in the opening inning. Livan Soto scored after Francisco Del Valle grounded out. This was followed by a run from Mitch Spires. Then, Tim Millard scored off a wild pitch. To finish things off, Kiki Menendez also scored.

Billings' Drew Mount blasted a home run to left field in the top of the second, bringing the Owlz lead to three. This was Mount's second straight game with a homer.
Orem brought the lead up to 6-1 in the bottom of the second after Soto and Spires scored on back-to-back wild pitches.
The Owlz Tanner Chock threw a three pitch inning in the top of the third. Orem followed this up in the bottom of third with an Erven Roper homer to right field increasing the Owlz lead to 7-1.  
Spires hit a two-run homer to left field in the bottom of the fourth. Then, Del Valle scored a run from a Roper RBI single. The Owlz led 10-1 to end the fourth.
Chock was replaced by Cody Eckerson during the fifth innings. Once Eckerson came in, the Mustangs hit an RBI triple to score Carlos Rivero and Dylan Harris bringing the score to 10-3 after five innings.
Billings got another run in the eighth inning from a Mariel Bautista single. After the Bautista run, the Owlz brought out Ben Morrison from the bullpen. Morrison gave up three runs after he came into the game and the Mustangs were down 10-7 going into the top of the eighth.
The Owlz were able to counter the run of the Mustangs in the eighth by grabbing two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth. Orem brought Jacob Lee in for the final inning. Lee closed things out holding Billings scoreless in the inning as the Owlz sailed to the 12-7 win.
Orem will play the Mustangs tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. MST at the Home of the Owlz.
