PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (August 1, 2018) - Kevin Padlo played the hero twice Wednesday, breaking up the Fire Frogs' no-hit bid in the 11th before delivering the walk-off three-run home run in the 12th as the Charlotte Stone Crabs beat Florida 6-3 at Charlotte Sports Park.
The Stone Crabs (57-47, 23-14) did not record a hit through 10 innings Wednesday, yet managed to score the game-tying run in the bottom of the tenth on a Jermaine Palacios sacrifice fly.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 11th, Padlo ripped an RBI double down the left field line to break up the bid and tie the game at two.
After the Fire Frogs (43-58, 14-21) took the lead in the top of the 12th on a Lucas Herbert single, the Stone Crabs immediately tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a Jesús Sánchez double to right. After a Palacios sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk, Padlo launched a three-run home run to left to seal a 6-3 Charlotte win.
The Stone Crabs have now won six games in a row, scoring 47 runs over that stretch (7.8 per game).
Charlotte starter Brendan McKay went four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four and walking one.
