LAKEWOOD, NJ - BlueClaws LHP David Parkinson has been promoted to Clearwater and will join the Threshers in Florida this week, it was announced by the Phillies.
Parkinson led the South Atlantic League, and all qualified full-season Minor League Baseball pitchers, with an ERA of just 1.51 in going 8-1 over 17 starts with the BlueClaws this year. He struck out 115 hitters and walked just 26 over 95.1 innings pitched.
Andrew Brown, who is 4-2 with a 1.95 ERA with Lakewood and made one start with Clearwater last week, returns to the BlueClaws.
The left-hander was a 12th round pick of the Phillies from Ole Miss in last year's draft. He threw seven scoreless innings in the Father's Day win over Hickory, striking out 11. That win, combined with Greensboro's win over Kannapolis that night, propelled the BlueClaws into the post-season as First-Half Champions.
He is the second BlueClaws starter promoted this year, following Ramon Rosso (5-1, 1.33 ERA in 12 starts). Relievers Addison Russ (5-1, 1.67 ERA, 13 saves) and Kyle Dohy (3-3, 0.80 ERA, seven saves) were promoted at the All-Star break.
