San Antonio, TX - RHP Matt Pearce dealt his second straight 9-inning complete game, blanking the San Antonio Missions to lead the Springfield Cardinals to the 4-0 shutout win before 4,151 fans at Wolff Stadium on Friday night.

It marks Pearce's second straight nine-inning complete game and his first complete-game shutout of the season. In the dominant performance, he allowed only four hits with no walks while striking out six and facing just three batters over the minimum.

While Pearce was blanking the Missions (27-21), the Cardinals (25-21) cracked the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning. Facing RHP Enyel De Los Santos (L, 2-3), RF Adolis Garcia doubled himself on to start the inning, his third straight game with a double. After a pair of groundouts, 1B Casey Grayson brought Garcia home with a two-out RBI double to right-center field. Grayson then raced in on an RBI single by C Jesse Jenner inside the left field line, doubling the Cardinals early lead to 2-0.

Pearce continued to roll, facing more than three batters in an inning only once in his first seven frames, stifling the Missions bats before Springfield added to the lead in the top of the ninth. With one away, Grayson and Jenner sparked the rally with consecutive singles. One out later, Pearce knocked a groundball to second base that 2B José Rondón bobbled, recovered and then errantly threw past first base, allowing everyone to be safe with Grayson scoring, Jenner getting to third and Pearce going all the way to second. CF Oscar Mercado promptly followed with an RBI single lined to left field, plating Jenner to increase the Cardinals lead to 4-0.

Pearce then finished what he started with a perfect final frame in the top of the ninth, his seventh three-batter inning on the night, closing the 4-0 shutout win for Springfield.
