BILOXI, MS - In a must-win game on Monday night, Freddy Peralta tied a club record with 12 strikeouts over 6.0 shutout innings as the Biloxi Shuckers beat the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7-1 at MGM Park.
With seven games remaining in the regular season, the Shuckers trail the first-place Jumbo Shrimp by 3.0 games in the South Division. Biloxi has two home games remaining at Jacksonville before ending their season on the road at Mobile against the BayBears.

The game was delayed 69 minutes due to rain passing through the area, but despite some light rain in the late innings, the two teams were able to play without concern for the weather.
Peralta (W, 2-4) lowered his Double-A ERA to 2.03 with his standout performance, tying Taylor Jungmann 's 2016 team record with 12 strikeouts in one game. The young righty allowed just two hits and walked one to earn his second win with the Shuckers this season.
Jacksonville starter Trevor Richards (L, 5-6) was almost as good, making it into the sixth, but three unearned runs came across in the second inning to hand him the tough-luck loss. After a grounder off the bat of Peralta went for a run-scoring error, Johnny Davis and Troy Stokes Jr. each hit RBI singles to give the Shuckers a 3-0 lead.
In the sixth, Richards was bounced after two hits to start the inning and Dustin DeMuth extended the lead with an RBI groundout. Jacob Nottingham then hit a long three-run home run over the left field scoreboard to stretch Biloxi's lead to 7-0. The long ball came on the heels of Nottingham's two-homer game on Sunday and gives him four home runs in his last three games.
Jorge López (S, 6) allowed a run in 3.0 innings of relief, striking out four more batters to give the pitching staff 16 on the night. He earned his sixth save of the season and his first of the three-inning variety.
The Shuckers continue their series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday as Jon Perrin faces off against Dillon Peters. First pitch is at 6:35 pm, and live coverage begins at 6:15 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network.
