SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Minor League Baseball has announced Springfield Cardinals outfielder Nick Plummer as Double-A Central Player of the Week for July 5-11.

Plummer, 24, homered four times over six games last week, batting 9-for-26 with six runs, one double, 10 RBIs and two walks.

Ranked as the No. 29 prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals system, Plummer’s week was highlighted by a three-homer game on Thursday, July 8 against the Tulsa Drillers (AA, Dodgers), with the third home run coming as a 10th-inning walkoff in a thrilling 10-9 Cardinals win.

Plummer had hits in all six games last week and now has hits in 12 of his last 13 games dating back to June 29. His three-homer game was the second in Springfield Cardinals regular season history by an individual player, with the first coming just weeks earlier on June 12 from INF Nolan Gorman, now with the Memphis Redbirds (AAA).

The Lathrup Village, Michigan native is batting .306 (60-for-196) through 57 games this season—his first in Double-A—with 30 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 28 RBIs, 27 walks, five stolen bases, a .404 on-base percentage and .904 OPS. He stands among league leaders in average (6th), OBP (6th), OPS (10th), hits (8th) and total bases (T9th).

Plummer was drafted by St. Louis in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 2015 MLB Draft.

Plummer is the second Springfield Cardinal to win a league Player of the Week award this season (Gorman, 6/7-6/13).
