CHARLESTON, W. Va. (May 28, 2019) - Onil Pena's walk-off sacrifice fly solidified a four-run comeback win for West Virginia in game one, but the Power were one-hit by Lexington in a 3-0 loss in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader at Appalachian Power Park.

GAME 1: West Virginia 5, Lexington 4 (F/7)
Down 4-1 in the sixth, West Virginia surged back once again in the late innings. After Jonathan Bowlan held the Power (25-25) to one hit through the first five innings, a fifth-inning triple by Joseph Rosa, the normally-sound Lexington (23-27) right-hander began to unravel. Bowlan struck out Charlie McConnell to begin the sixth, but Jarred Kelenic stepped to the dish and took the former Memphis product deep with a 385-foot bomb to right, his 11th home run of the season, to close the deficit to 4-2. Onil Pena then scorched a single and quickly moved to third on a ripped double from Bobby Honeyman. Bowlan plunked the next batter, J.R. Davis, to load the bases and was promptly lifted from the ballgame.
Kyle Hinton (0-4) replaced Bowlan with the bases loaded and one away, but battled back to fan Jake Anchia. He worked the count to 0-2 against Rosa, but the shortstop stroked a single to left-center field, plating Pena and Honeyman to tie the game at four.
David Ellingson (2-2) entered in the seventh and fired a 1-2-3 inning, keeping the game tied at four into the bottom of the frame. With Hinton still on the bump, Ryan Ramiz worked a one-out walk before Kelenic singled him over to third base. Pena then lofted a fly ball to left field that was just deep enough to score Ramiz from third, giving West Virginia its second consecutive walk-off win.
Steven Moyers spun another quality start, his sixth of the season, in the win. The southpaw hurled six innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out three batters. He tossed three scoreless innings to start his outing before running into trouble in the fourth.
The Legends notched their first run across against Moyers on a Nick Hutchins RBI double and padded their lead in the fifth when Rubendy Jaquez scored on a throwing error by Rosa.
McConnell got that run back in the bottom of the stanza after he brought in Rosa following his three-bagger with a groundout, but Lexington answered right back in the sixth on Freddy Fermin's two-run jack to left.
GAME 2: Lexington 3, West Virginia 0 (F/7)
Josias De Los Santos started off strong for West Virginia (25-26) in game two. Despite giving up a leadoff double to Michael Gigliotti in the first, he worked through four scoreless innings and allowed just hits.
In the fifth inning, Deivy Florido (3-1) entered and surrendered the first run of the game on a Kyle Kasser RBI single that handed Lexington (24-27) a 1-0 lead. The Legends tacked on two more in the sixth inning on Chase Vallot's two-run blast that thrust them ahead 3-0.
Austin Cox (3-3), much like De Los Santos, was dominant on the hill from the first inning forward. The lefty took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out seven batters along the way. With one out in the seventh inning, Davis laced a line drive into right field to break up the no-no and end Cox's night.
Josh Dye (S, 3) relieved Cox out of the pen and allowed Rosa to reach on an error before he recorded the second out of the inning with a strike out of Dean Nevarez. With runners at first and second, Nick Rodriguez grounded out to Dye to end the game.
Following a league-wide off day Wednesday, West Virginia hits the road to begin a five-game, four-day series against the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field Thursday evening, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Clay Chandler (4-2, 3.22 ERA) takes the mound for the Power, while the Tourists have yet to announce a starter.
