RENO, Nev.-Rising pitching prospect Drey Jameson has been promoted to the Reno Aces after being transferred from Double-A Amarillo. While with the Sod Poodles, Jameson held a 2-1 record and 2.41 ERA in four starts with 23 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched. The hurler was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for April 18-24 with six shutout innings of one-hit ball and eight strikeouts in one start against the San Antonio Missions on April 20.
According to MLB Pipeline, Jameson has ranked the No. 6 prospect in the Diamondbacks organization. The 2019 first-round pick by Arizona earned High-A Pitcher of the Month in 2021 and was also awarded a Gold Glove by Minor League Baseball in the same season. Jameson is known for his explosive arm. He can pump his fastball up to the triple digits and keep the hitters honest with a sinking changeup, slider and breaking ball.
Arizona selected Jameson with the 34th overall selection in the 2019 draft after the six-foot right-hander played two seasons at Ball State University. During his time with the Cardinals, he sported a 13-5 record with a 3.52 ERA and struck out 243 batters in 163.2 innings pitched. The Greenfield, Indiana native earned a laundry list of accolades during his time with the Cardinals, including 2019 MAC Pitcher of the Year, 2018 MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year and Collegiate Baseball’s 2019 2nd Team All-American.
