Today in our series of potential 2020 Rocket City Trash Pandas written by Prospects1500's Angels correspondent Andrew Rhodes: Hector Yan, LHP.

Yan, 20, was the Angels Pitcher of the Year according to MiLB in 2019. He was part of the excellent Burlington rotation last year.
Yan was signed out of the Dominican Republic for $80K in 2015.Yan is a smaller lefty with a funky delivery. He has a fastball that can get up to 96 mph at times, he has an above average curveball that misses bats and a developing changeup. Yan's biggest area in need of improvement is his command. That will determine his role in the future.

Yan has progressed slowly through the farm system. He arrived in the US in 2017 and displayed some swing and miss stuff striking out 21 batters in 16 innings. His results backed up in 2018 with the strike outs becoming less prevalent in Orem and the amount of hits given up rising. In 2019 Yan broke out with a force while pitching for Burlington. He made progress in all the areas he needed to and had an ERA of 3.39 with 148 strikeouts in 109 innings.

#15 on Prospects1500 Angels Top 50 list, Yan should be able to build upon what he did in 2019 and could prove to the prospect world that he can be a bonafide starter.
