Manchester, NH- Starting pitcher Andrew Quezada, and relievers Mitch Kilkenny and Dugan Darnell combined on a six-hit shutout as the Yard Goats blanked the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2-0 on Friday evening at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Kyle Datres and Hunter Goodman each drove in a run helping Hartford to its third consecutive victory. The Yard Goats pitching staff combined for 14 strikeouts and Quezada earned his first Double-A win.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the third inning off Fisher Cats starter Adam Kloffenstein. Niko Decolati walked and took third base on Bladimir Restituyo’s double to right field. Kyle Datres followed with a grounder to second base, allowing Decolati to score, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Quezada worked around a leadoff double in the first inning and the Hartford starter would retire the next seven batters with five strikeouts over that stretch. The right hander allowed back-to-back singles to open the fourth inning but then retired the next three batters and struck out Zac Cook to end the threat. He worked a season-high five innings and sat down the final six batters faced, leaving with a 1-0 lead.

Mitch Kilkenny pitched around a single and a walk in the sixth inning and came back with a strikeout and an inning ending double play as the Yard Goats held a 1-0 lead. The reliever allowed a leadoff single in the seventh inning but got the next three batters to end the threat as the Fisher Cats left the tying run at third base.

The Yard Goats picked up an insurance run in the ninth inning as Hunter Goodman singled home Kyle Datres who led off the frame with a triple and it was 2-0. Dugan Darnell struck out five over the final two innings to record his second save.

The Yard Goats and Fisher Cats play the fifth of a six-game series on Saturday afternoon (4:05 PM) at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, NH. The game can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin’ Park on Tuesday (7:10 PM), and host the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, the Reading Fightin Phils.
