Lancaster unable to overcome 17-hit effort from Storm

LANCASTER, Calif. - It was a lively night at The Hangar with 4,160 in attendance, but Lancaster fell, 9-5, to Lake Elsinore Sasturday night. Roberto Ramos homered twice for Lancaster, but the Storm scored all nine of their runs after the fifth inning to even the series.

LANCASTER, Calif. - It was a lively night at The Hangar with 4,160 in attendance, but Lancaster fell, 9-5, to Lake Elsinore Sasturday night. Roberto Ramos homered twice for Lancaster, but the Storm scored all nine of their runs after the fifth inning to even the series.

It was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. Roberto Ramos hit the first of two home runs to lead off the inning. The home run was the first hit for Lancaster against Adrian Morejon (4-3), who pitched into the seventh for the Storm. Ramos added a home run in the eighth inning, giving him 16 on the season.
Lake Elsinore (31-31) scored twice in the sixth inning, three times in the seventh and four times in the eighth. David Hill (1-1) surrendered just two of the nine runs, but was saddled with the loss. All nine Storm starters had one hit, and seven had multi-hit games.
Lancaster (29-33) made things interesting with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, all coming with two outs. Max George drove in two with a single, and Manny Melendez added an RBI double. Lancaster trailed, 5-4, heading into the eighth.
The Storm put the game out of reach with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth. Lake Elsinore had 17 hits in the contest, giving them 32 over the first two games of the series at The Hangar. Lancaster now trails by two games in the standings.   
The JetHawks can win the series with a victory in the finale Sunday afternoon. Matt Dennis (3-6) starts for Lancaster against Lake Elsinore's Ronald Bolaños (1-3). Fist pitch from The Hangar is at 2:05 pm.
