Visalia, CA – The Visalia Rawhide (51-69, 23-31) scored the most runs in a single game since 2013 in a 20-2 beatdown of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (57-62, 21-33) on Sunday afternoon at Valley Strong Ballpark.

The Rawhide win five of six in this week’s series and are six and a half games out of a playoff spot with 12 games left in the team’s season. Visalia is 10-5 in their last 15 games.

Visalia tied a season high with 20 hits and scored in six different frames. Their 20 runs are the most in a single Rawhide game since scoring 21 runs in a game against Stockton in 2013.

The Rawhide exploded for five runs in the first inning and seven in the second frame by batting around in both innings. Ryder Helfrick opened the scoring with an RBI double and Weber Neels doubled the score with his own RBI two-bagger. Jack Spanier added an RBI single before Tytus Cissell capped the frame with a two RBI basehit.

In the second inning Enyervert Perez opened the scoring with an RBI single. Spanier then drove in a run on a fielders’ choice, Cissell drew a bases loaded walk and Spanier scored on a wild pitch. Carson Kerce then blew the game open with a three run home run to left field for his first pro homer.

Rancho Cucamonga scored their two runs in the top of the fifth.

Visalia then scored in the final four frames they came to bat. In the bottom of the fifth Pedro Blanco hit an RBI single before Weber Neels powered a two run home run to left field.

Kerce added to the lead with an RBI single in the sixth and Visalia scored two more in the seventh via an Adriel Radney RBI fielders’ choice and Cissell RBI double.

The Rawhide capped the scoring in the eighth with a Neels’ RBI double and Spanier RBI single.

Anderson Cardenas made a one inning start tossing a scoreless frame with two strikeouts. Chung-Hsiang Huang earned his second win of the season pitching five innings and allowing just two runs. He recorded five strikeouts and allowed just five baserunners.

Andrew Wertz, Ricardo Yan and Daniel Nunez all pitched scoreless frames.

Spanier finished with four hits, four runs and three RBI. Neels totaled three extra base hits and drove in four runs. Helfrick added three hits and three runs including two doubles. Paul Schoenfeld made his Valley Strong Ballpark debut with two hits on a first inning triple and second inning double.

Kerce tallied with two hits and four RBI while Cissell extended his on-base streak to 11 games on a two hit and four RBI afternoon.

The Rawhide next head to San Jose for their final road trip of the season. The series with the Giants starts on Tuesday night at 6:30 PM at Excite Ballpark. Fans can tune into the game via MLB.TV or the Bally Sports Live App.

Visalia returns to Valley Strong Ballpark on Tuesday, September 1st to conclude the regular season with a six game series against the Stockton Ports.
