Rawhide Win Series Opener behind Vasquez’s Five Shutout Innings and Helfrick Home Run

Visalia, CA – Daury Vasquez tossed five shutout innings and Ryder Helfrick homered as the Visalia Rawhide (47-68, 19-30) defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (56-59, 20-29) 3-2 on Tuesday evening in the series opener at Valley Strong Ballpark.

Vasquez earned his first win of the season allowing just two hits over five frames with five strikeouts. He walked four batters but worked out of jams leaving five baserunners stranded including a bases loaded strikeout in the fifth inning.

Helfrick opened the scoring in his Valley Strong Ballpark debut with a home run to left field in the first inning. The 2026 D-backs 1st round draft pick has smashed three home runs in his first 10 pro games.

Visalia added to the lead in the second. Enyervert Perez led off with a walk and Jake Duer in his pro debut hit a double down the left field line. Adriel Radney then poked a two RBI single into center field for a 3-0 Rawhide lead.

Rancho Cucamonga's lone runs came on a two out two run home run in the ninth inning.

Julien Hernandez pitched a scoreless inning from the Rawhide bullpen and Jesus Escobar earned his first Rawhide save with three innings of work to close out the win.

The Rawhide defense tied a season high turning three double plays. Shortstop Carson Kerce made the play of the day with a leaping over the shoulder catch on a blooper to shallow left field in the eighth inning.

The series between the Rawhide and the Quakes continues on Wednesday at Valley Strong Ballpark. The evening is headlined by Ballpark Bingo presented by Park Visalia being played during the game. As part of a Great8 Wednesday, fans can also take advantage of $8 tickets to the Kaweah Health Grandstands. Plus, fans 21 and older can enjoy $8 cocktails.

The evening is also another Rawhide Rustlers’ Wednesday. Fans 55 and older can join the Rawhide Rustlers senior club to receive a ticket to every Wednesday game plus giveaways throughout the season.
