TROY, NY - Following a brief but heavy rainstorm, the Tri-City ValleyCats (32-31) took the field in front of a crowd of two thousand seven hundred and thirty-six soccer players and fans for “Soccer Night” at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The ‘Cats were slated to play the visiting Sussex County Miners (37-26) in the second game of a three-game weekend set.

Tri-City sent submariner Jake Dexter (2-2) to the mound. Dexter would turn in one of his strongest performances of the year, spinning five innings and allowing just one run, earning the win. Following Dexter’s departure, the Miners were held to four hits and one run by a band of ValleyCats bullpen arms for the remainder of Saturday’s contest.

The ValleyCats would score early and often. Juan Silverio got the party started with a grand slam in the first inning. Denis Phipps and Brad Zunica would also leave the yard in a twelve-run night for the ‘Cats. Six ValleyCats players would record a multi-hit game in Saturday’s win, which put the first place ‘Cats above the .500 mark.

W: Jake Dexter (2-2)
