Friscia Breaks Tie; BlueClaws Win 3-2 on Saturday

ABERDEEN, MD - Vito Friscia drove in the go-ahead run with a sixth inning RBI single and the BlueClaws topped Aberdeen 3-2 on Saturday night at Ripken Stadium.

ABERDEEN, MD - Vito Friscia drove in the go-ahead run with a sixth inning RBI single and the BlueClaws topped Aberdeen 3-2 on Saturday night at Ripken Stadium.

Jersey Shore (49-56) and Aberdeen (54-52) have split the first six games in their series with the finale set for Sunday at 2:05.

Neither team scored through the first four innings and the BlueClaws opened the scoring in the fifth. Johan Rojas, who joined the BlueClaws earlier this week, singled home Nick Matera to give Jersey Shore a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning. Rojas and Jonathan Guzman executed a successful double-steal on which Rojas stole second and Guzman stole home.

Aberdeen's Lamar Sparks singled home two runs in the fifth to tie the game.

Friscia singled home DJ Stewart in the sixth to put the BlueClaws up 3-2.

Blake Brown came on in the eighth and got the last six outs for his team-leading eighth save. Gabriel Yanez (1-0) gave up two runs but earned the win.

Jersey Shore starter Carlo Reyes threw four scoreless innings.

Rojas had two hits for Jersey Shore. Nicolas Torres went 1-4 and has hit safely in 14 of his 15 games with the BlueClaws this season.
