DAYTON, OHIO-Jonathan India, the Cincinnati Reds 2018 first round draft pick, has been promoted to the Dayton Dragons from Billings in the Pioneer League. India will be added to the Dragons roster for tonight's game and is in the lineup posted early this afternoon at third base. He is expected to also see time at shortstop during his tenure with the Dragons.
India was the fifth overall selection in the 2018 June draft. He played college baseball at the University of Florida, where he was the 2018 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and a consensus First Team All-American. At Florida in 2018, India batted .350 with 21 home runs and 52 runs batted in, appearing in 68 games. His home run total was the fifth highest in school history, and his slugging percentage of .717 was the fourth highest ever at UF.
India has appeared in 17 professional games for the Reds Advanced-Rookie affiliates, Greenville and Billings, batting a combined .259 with three home runs and 12 RBI.
India is a native of Plantation, Florida.
