HAGERSTOWN, Md. (July 6, 2017) - The Hagerstown Suns announce the addition of LHP Jordan Mills from the Potomac Nationals (A-Advanced). In a corresponding move, RHP Sam Held is placed on the seven-day Disabled List.
Mills began the 2017 season on the Suns roster and posted a 4-1 record with a 1.80 ERA in 25 innings out of the Hagerstown bullpen. He made 4 saves in 5 opportunities. The 25-year-old Saint Mary's College (CA) alum joined the P-Nats on June 4. Mills made seven appearances and started one game in the Carolina League. He tallied an 0-1 record with a 7.71 ERA in 9 1/3 innings. Mills was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2013, pitched for Can-Am Quebec in 2016, and signed with the Nationals in January.
Held opened the season with the Suns and joined the P-Nats on April 20 after striking out seven batters over 7 2/3 innings in the SAL. The 22-year-old University of Nevada alum rejoined Hagerstown on May 18 and his cumulative ERA in the SAL is 9.37 with a 1-4 record in 14 appearances and 16 1/3 innings pitched. Held was taken by the Nationals in the 29th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Hagerstown currently leads the SAL Northern Division second-half standings with a 10-3 record since the All-Star Break. On Friday, the Suns open a four-game series in Kannapolis, North Carolina at 7:05 p.m. The Suns return home to Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown on Wednesday, July 12  at 7:05 p.m. for the first of three games against the Charleston RiverDogs, Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
