COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 17, 2017) - Zach Remillard homered, but the Intimidators fell to the Columbia Fireflies, 2-1, in Monday night's series finale at Spirit Communications Park.  Kannapolis (10-15 Second Half, 49-44) missed out on an opportunity to sweep the 3-game set.
Making his White Sox organization debut, Intimidators starting pitcher Dylan Cease worked 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Cease (0-1) took the loss in his first start since coming to the White Sox from the Cub as part of last week's José Quintana trade.
Carol Gonzalez (6-7) earned the win with 8.0 strong innings, limiting Kannapolis to a run on five hits while striking out nine and walking none.
Remillard homered (5) in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead, but the Fireflies responded with two in the fifth. In the frame, Columbia's Dash Winningham singled, and Dan Rizzie doubled to put men in scoring position before a pair of RBI-outs brought them both home to give the Fireflies a 2-1 lead that held up.
The Intimidators are off Tuesday and return to Kannapolis on Wednesday for a 7-game home stand that features Star Wars Night with post-game fireworks on Saturday, July 22. Tickets are available by calling the F&M Bank Box Office at 704-932-3267 or by visiting IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
