Reno, NV – The Reno Aces (27-17) spanked 18 hits and drew 11 walks in a 17-3 blowout win over the Sacramento River Cats (21-23) Saturday evening at Greater Nevada Field.

Jake McCarthy, Buddy Kennedy, Alek Thomas, Phillip Evans, Yairo Muñoz, P.J. Higgins, and Diego Castillo all contributed multiple hits in the series-clinching victory. The Aces drove in 15 runs, including five from Evans and three from Castillo. All nine starters recorded a hit.

After recording only five at-bats with runners in scoring position Friday, the Aces continuously clogged the bases Saturday. Reno went 13-for-26 with runners in scoring position and drove in six runs with two outs.

Blake Walston was strong once again in his fifth win. Walston went five innings, allowed one earned run, and struck out four. Walston owns a dazzling 1.60 ERA with 25 strikeouts over his last six starts.

Reno has won back-to-back series and hasn’t lost a set in over a month. The series finale is Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
