Reno, Nev. – After splitting the series to the Sacramento River Cats this past week, the Reno Aces (33-36) will head to Salt Lake for the second time this year to take on the Bees (28-40), the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, for a six-game series set to begin on June 18.

Reno and Salt Lake have previously met 12 times, with each club hosting a six-game series. The Aces have had the upper hand so far, taking 10 games and winning five out of six in each series. This upcoming six-game set will be the final time Reno and Salt Lake meet this season.

Jason Martin and Keston Hiura stand out among the Salt Lake Bees roster.

In their previous meeting, Martin, an outfielder for Salt Lake, was an issue for Reno. The 28-year-old went 12-for-26 (.462) with four extra-base hits (one home run) and six RBI in the series. He has been one of the Bees’ more consistent hitters for the year, slashing .299/.376/.523 with 14 doubles, seven home runs, and 27 RBI in 174 at-bats. The California native will have his eyes on continuing to mash against the Aces.

Keston Hiura, who joined Salt Lake in their most recent series against Las Vegas, has been raking since his promotion. The infielder has gone 5-for-18 (.278) with a double, three home runs, and four RBI in five games in his time with the Bees. Hiura was once a significant threat in the big leagues. In his rookie year, 2019, the 27-year-old slashed .303/.368/.570 with 19 home runs and 49 RBI in 84 games. With experience under his belt, the former first-round pick will be worth watching in the upcoming series.

Adrian Del Castillo has been an animal in 12 games against Salt Lake this year. The backstop has collected 22 hits in 55 at-bats (.400) with 10 doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. He has registered at least one extra-base hit in all but three games against the Bees. The Miami native has broken out this year, emerging as one of the best hitters in Minor League Baseball, leading the Pacific Coast League in hits (83), doubles (27), total bases (155), extra-base hits (43), and OPS (1.010).

Tristin English has also held his own against Salt Lake, going 15-for-31 (.484) with seven extra-base hits (three home runs) and seven RBI in seven games. The 27-year-old has experienced peaks and valleys at the plate this season but is starting to turn it around, finding five hits in his last 12 at-bats, including a three-hit, three-RBI performance in Sunday’s series finale against Sacramento.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field for a six-game set against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The series will begin on Tuesday, June 11, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
