RENO, Nev. – Following a series split with the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Reno Aces (24–27) will now hit the road for a six-game set against the Round Rock Express (24–27), the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The series will kick off on Tuesday, May 27, at 5:05 p.m. PST at Dell Diamond.

Round Rock enters the matchup having also split their recent interleague series with the Charlotte Knights, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Both teams are tied for sixth place in the Pacific Coast League, trailing the Las Vegas Aviators by eight and a half games.

The Aces hosted the Express earlier this season at Greater Nevada Field, where Round Rock claimed four of six contests. The Express also took the season series in 2024, winning six of the 11 matchups. Reno slashed .257/.323/.458 in those contests, collecting 38 extra-base hits—including 16 home runs—and 49 RBIs against Round Rock pitching.

Notable players on the Express roster include right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning and infielder Cody Freeman.

Dunning, a former top prospect, was effective in his first start against Reno this season, throwing 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball on four hits and no walks while striking out five. That outing remains his only win of the season so far. In his most recent appearance, Dunning delivered 4 2/3 scoreless innings against Charlotte, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six. He also made a brief big-league appearance in late April, tossing three innings of two-run ball against the Athletics and earning the first save of his MLB career.

Freeman, a 2019 fourth-round draft pick, has been Round Rock’s most consistent active offensive contributor. He enters the series slashing .278/.330/.414 with 13 doubles, three home runs, and 25 RBIs across 43 games. After a slow start to last week's series against Charlotte, Freeman rebounded in the final three games, going 5-for-13 (.385) with two doubles, six RBIs, and three walks. He appeared in just three games against Reno earlier this season but recorded a hit in each, finishing 4-for-13 (.308) with two doubles and an RBI. The 24-year-old will aim to keep his strong 2025 campaign going in this upcoming series.

On Reno’s side, catcher Aramis Garcia has been red-hot at the plate. The veteran backstop is coming off a strong series against Albuquerque, going 6-for-17 (.353) with three home runs and six RBIs. Garcia was also dominant against Round Rock in their first meeting, going 6-for-12 (.500) with a double, two homers, and four RBIs in three games. The 32-year-old has been one of the Aces’ offensive leaders this May, hitting .311/.380/.778 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs in 13 games. He’ll look to continue his torrid stretch during the road trip.

The six-game series begins Tuesday, May 27, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PST.
