+The Flying Squirrels return to Hartford for the second time and final time in 2018. Richmond took two out of three in Hartford (April 9-11) and did the same at The Diamond (April 27-29). Overall Richmond will play the Goats 13 times in the 2018 season and they currently lead the series, 4-3. The Goats have been incredibly streaky this season. They lost the first seven games to begin the year and had another seven game skid from the end of May into June. Hartford is currently second in the Eastern League in batting (.259) and third in the League with 70 home runs. The Team still boasts Colorado Rockies No. 1 prospect Brendan Rodgers but no longer carries spark plug Garrett Hampson who was promoted to Triple-A on May 17.
Zero, An Unfamiliar Number.
The Flying Squirrels offense was shut down on Monday for just the second time this season. Richmond was blanked by Portland for the first time this year on 6/13 (3-0) at The Diamond. The two shutouts are the second fewest for an Eastern League team this season, trailing only the New Hampshire Fisher Cats who have not been zipped yet this year. New Hampshire is 6-0 in shutout contests. Richmond was shutout 15 times last season. The franchise record for fewest offensive shutouts in a year ins six, set in 2016.
Oh No, It's The LOB!
The Flying Squirrels left a season-high 13 runners on base Monday at Dunkin Donuts Park. Richmond has left double digit runner on base seven times this season, with the previous high of 11 (4/6, 4/8,). The Squirrels are 5-2 when leaving ten or more men on base. The team's 0-15 with RISP on Monday registered as the most AB's in a game with RISP without recording a hit.
