Dayton, Ohio—The Quad Cities River Bandits collected 14 hits and belted three home runs as they defeated the Dayton Dragons 10-3 on Friday night. The Bandits have won three of the first four games in the six-game series that will continue through Sunday afternoon.

A crowd of 7,982 was in attendance at Day Air Ballpark.

Recap: The River Bandits scored three runs after two men were out in the top of the second inning against Dayton starting pitcher Kyle McCoy to jump out to a 3-0 lead.

The Dragons responded in the bottom of the second when Esmith Pineda launched a two-run home run to left field to pull the Dragons to within a run at 3-2. The homer was Pineda’s second of the season and his first since opening night on April 2^nd.

After Quad Cities scored once in the top of the fourth, Dayton’s Ty Doucette lined a home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth to keep the Dragons deficit at a single run at 4-3. Doucette’s homer was his second with the Dragons and his 11^th in the Reds farm system in 2026.

In the top of the fifth, the River Bandits loaded the bases with no outs before McCoy notched a strikeout for the first out and was immediately replaced by Drew Pestka, who got an inning-ending double play on the first pitch he threw to close out a scoreless inning.

But the Dragons could not generate any offense over the second half of the game. They did not have a hit after Doucette’s homer in the fourth. Quad Cities scored four runs in the seventh to take a commanding 8-3 lead and added two more in the ninth.

McCoy (4-5) was charged with the loss, working four and one-third innings and allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Dragons had only three hits, getting the home runs from Pineda and Doucette along with a first inning single by Eric Becker.
