Rocket City now boasts Angels' top two prospects with the additions of Nimmala, Bremner

MADISON, AL — The Los Angeles Angels announced additional player transactions, assigning catcher Jacob Cozart, infielder Arjun Nimmala, outfielder Eddie Micheletti Jr., and right-handed pitcher Kyle Robinson to Rocket City following a trio of Major League trades. The Angels also selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Blake Weiman, released outfielders David Calabrese and Yeremi Villahermosa, and placed catcher J.J. D'Orazio on the Development List. In total, 17 roster moves were made in the last 24 hours, impacting Rocket City’s roster.
With the additions of Nimmala and Tyler Bremner, Rocket City now features the Angels' No. 1 and No. 2 prospects, who rank No. 42 and No. 43 overall on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, marking the first time in franchise history the Trash Pandas have had two Top 50 overall prospects on the active roster. Rocket City now has seven of the Angels' Top 30 prospects: Tyler Bremner (No. 1), Arjun Nimmala (No. 2), Nate Snead (No. 17), Juan Flores (No. 18), Jacob Cozart (No. 19), Jake Munroe (No. 21), and Austin Gordon (No. 26).
Cozart, 23, was acquired by the Angels from the Cleveland Guardians on Monday in exchange for outfielder Jo Adell. Following the trade, Cozart slots in as the Angels' No. 18 prospect, after entering the 2026 season ranked No. 14 in Cleveland's system by Baseball America. The 23-year-old was selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft out of NC State, where he earned First Team All-ACC honors and was a finalist for the Buster Posey Award. He spent the 2026 season with Double-A Akron, batting .226 with 10 doubles, six home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .359 on-base percentage in 79 games.
Micheletti, 24, was acquired by the Angels from the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, along with Nimmala and RHP Angel Rivero, in exchange for RHP José Soriano, and was assigned to Double-A Rocket City. The Wilmington, Del., native has spent 2026 with Double-A New Hampshire, batting .252 with 20 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs, 45 RBIs, and an .801 OPS in 93 games. Micheletti ranked tied for second in the Eastern League in triples (4), tied for seventh in runs scored (60) and extra-base hits (38), and 10th in total bases (157), while posting the league's ninth-lowest strikeout rate (17.5%). An eighth-round selection by Toronto in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Virginia Tech, Micheletti hit .309 with 12 home runs and a 1.063 OPS during his lone season with the Hokies after transferring from George Washington.
Nimmala, 20, was acquired by the Angels from the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, along with outfielder Eddie Micheletti Jr. and right-handed pitcher Angel Rivero, in exchange for right-handed pitcher José Soriano. The Angels' No. 2 prospect and the No. 43 overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, Nimmala entered the 2026 season as Toronto's top prospect according to Baseball America. Originally selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Nimmala split the 2026 season between High-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire, batting .279 with 20 doubles, 13 home runs, 54 RBIs, 18 stolen bases, and an .819 OPS in 96 games while reaching base safely in 27 of his first 33 Double-A contests.
Robinson, 23, was acquired by the Angels from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed pitcher Kirby Yates after spending the 2026 season in the Athletics and Pirates organizations. The right-hander opened the season with High-A Lansing before being dealt to Pittsburgh on May 16, advancing through Single-A Bradenton, High-A Greensboro, and Double-A Altoona while going a combined 5-2 with a 4.55 ERA (42 ER/83.0 IP) and 78 strikeouts in 19 appearances (18 starts). Originally selected by the Athletics in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Texas Tech, Robinson owns an 11-14 career record with a 4.65 ERA (109 ER/211.0 IP) and 177 strikeouts in 47 professional appearances (40 starts). The Amory, Mississippi, native represented USA Baseball's National Team in 2023 and concluded his collegiate career at Texas Tech with 133 strikeouts in 133.0 innings.
Calabrese, 23, was given his unconditional release by the Angels after spending parts of four seasons with the organization, including three-plus seasons with Double-A Rocket City. The Maple, Ontario, Canada native appeared in 74 games for the Trash Pandas in 2026, batting .221 with 13 doubles, five home runs, 21 RBIs, and seven stolen bases, highlighted by a game-tying three-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning on July 31 at Columbus. Originally selected by the Angels in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft, Calabrese ranks second in franchise history with 311 games played and third in hits (211), home runs (29), and runs scored (133).
Weiman, 30, had his contract selected by the Angels after posting a 2.30 ERA with 19 strikeouts and one save over 14 relief appearances for Rocket City. The left-hander became the seventh former Trash Pandas player to earn his first Major League promotion in 2026, 53rd all-time, and the 16th in franchise history to go directly from Double-A to the Major Leagues without appearing in Triple-A that season. Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the eighth round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of Kansas, Weiman is in line to become the 53rd player in franchise history to make his Major League debut.
