Rox Win Streak Ends At Four Games With 6-1 Loss

The Grand Junction Rockies season-long winning streak is over at four games following a 6-1 loss to the Billings Mustangs Thursday night at Dehler Park.
Grand Junction was done in by a 5-run Mustangs second inning that occurred after the Rockies had scored a run and taken the lead in their half of the inning when Franklin Garcia scored from third on an error committed by Mustangs third baseman Nadir Ljatifi, but the Rockies left the bases loaded.
Billings took advantage in the bottom of the inning, sending 10 men to the plate, scoring five runs, and that would be more than enough. The Rockies had a chance to narrow the lead after Daniel Montano's 1-out triple in the third, but he was stranded, and the Rockies left two more on base in the fifth. They didn't have a hit from that point on. 
After he struck out two in the fifth, Ryan Campbell struck out two Rockies in the sixth, and Dylan Harris made it 6-1 with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning. Eddy Demurias struck out the side in the seventh as did Dauri Moreta in the eighth. Ryan Kivel struck out the first two Rockies in the ninth, but L.J. Hatch and Coco Montes walked to keep the game alive only to see Cristopher Navarro ground out to end the game.
The loss drops the Rockies to 13-14 on the season as their 17 strikeouts is a season-high.
Eris Filpo allowed the five second inning runs, which ended his night, but the bullpen trio of Jesse Lepore, Michael Agis, and Reagan Biechler allowed one run over six innings.
Niko Decolati and Montano were the only Rockies with two hits.
