Burlington, N.C. - 2019 College World Series Champion AJ Franklin, the Kansas City Royals's 17th-round selection in this year's MLB Draft, has signed with the organization and has been assigned to Burlington.
Franklin, a native of Lebanon, Tenn., spent four years in Nashville. In his final season with the Commodores, Franklin made 13 relief appearances, striking out 16 batters over 13.2 innings. He made one appearance on the road to Omaha, tossing an inning of relief against Duke in the final series of the Nashville Super Regional.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
