Summary

The Harrisburg Senators score early and often to down the Akron RubberDucks 10-5 on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. Cleveland Guardians outfielder Oscar Gonzalez goes 0-for-5 as the designated hitter in his fifth rehab appearance with the RubberDucks.

Turning Point

Harrisburg broke the 5-5 tie in the seventh inning when walks to Darren Baker, Wilson Garcia and a single by Andrew Young loaded the bases. After a double play scored Baker, Isreal Pineda launched his second home run of the game to make it 8-5 Senators.

Mound Presence

Luis Oviedo got the start for Akron and struggled allowing two home runs and walking five over two innings of work. Randy Labaut followed with an inning and two thirds allowing three runs. Kyle Marman tossed a scoreless inning and a third. Jerson Ramirez followed with a scoreless inning. Brett Daniels allowed three runs in an inning. Cade Smith tossed a scoreless inning. Robert Broom tossed an inning allowing two runs.

Duck Tales

Akron answered back in the second inning when Eric Rodriquez singled home Micah Pries to cut the Harrisburg lead to 2-1. In the third, George Valera launched a two-run home run off the slide in right field to tie the game 3-3. The RubberDucks tied the game again in the fifth on a two-run double by Pries.

Notebook

Gonzalez finishes the week in Akron going 2-for-15 with three runs scored, a single, double and three walks in his five rehab games…Valera’s home run was his team-leading 15th…Game Time: 3:11…Attendance: 4,257.
