Summary

Hunter Stanley tosses six scoreless while Chase DeLauter and Aaron Bracho each pick up two hits and three RBI to lead the Akron RubberDucks past the Altoona Curve 7-1 on Thursday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

Akron’s offense got rolling in the fifth. A Milan Tolentino double and back-to-back walks by Gabriel Rodriguez and Connor Kokx loaded the bases with no outs. Juan Brito followed with a walk to bring home Tolentino and make it 1-0 RubberDucks. DeLauter followed by lining a single through the hole between second and short to bring home two and stretch Akron’s lead to 3-0. Bracho then launched a no-doubt home run over the Cutwater Tiki Terrace to double the RubberDucks lead to 6-0.

Mound Presence

Stanley was dominant for the RubberDucks. The right-hander ran into one jam when he loaded the bases with two outs in the third, but Stanley was able to get a pop up to Rodriguez to escape the inning without damage before cruising the rest of the way. In total, Stanley tossed six shutout innings allowing just two hits while striking out four. Tyler Thornton followed with two scoreless innings. Davis Sharpe tossed the ninth and allowed one run.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks added on to the big lead in the sixth when DeLauter lifted a sac-fly to score Kokx and stretch the lead to 7-0 Akron.
