Summary

Kahlil Watson and Milan Tolentino each homered to bookend a four-run seventh inning and lead the Akron RubberDucks to a 4-0 win over the Altoona Curve on Saturday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

Akron’s offense awoke in the bottom of the seventh. Watson opened the scoring with a home run into the bullpens to make it 1-0 Akron. Aaron Bracho reached first after being hit by the pitch before advancing to third on an errant pickoff attempt. Alexfri Planez singled Bracho home to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Mound Presence

Rodney Boone got the start for Akron and was almost un-hittable. The left-hander allowed a one-out double in the first before setting down the next 10 in a row. In total, Boone tossed four scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out five. Lenny Torres Jr. kept the strong pitching going, striking out four over two scoreless innings. Ross Carver struck out one in a scoreless inning. Jack Leftwich fired two scoreless to secure the win.

Duck Tales

Later in the seventh inning, Tolentino kept the scoring going. The RubberDucks infielder launched a two-run home run into Modelo Tiki Terrace to make it 4-0 RubberDucks.
