WINSTON-SALEM, NC (June 15th, 2023) – The Winston-Salem Salsa dropped game three of a six-game set to the Asheville Tourists, 16-3, Thursday night at Truist Stadium in front of 4,016 fans.

Asheville (25-31) scored early and often, plating five runs in the first, six in the second and one in the third taking a 12-0 lead.

Winston-Salem (32-25) jumped in on the scoring in the bottom of the third after Taishi Nakawake ripped his first home run of the year over the wall in left center, making it 12-1.

Shawn Goosenberg contributed in the fifth, lacing his fifth long ball of the season to left center making it a 10-run game, 12-2.

The Tourists’ bats fell silent until the seventh, where they put up four more runs taking a 16-2 lead. Winston-Salem pushed across a run in the ninth but ended up falling to the Tourists, 16-3.

Asheville lefty Max Roberts took the win while Salsa starter Andrew Dalquist was tabbed with the loss after only lasting 0.2 innings.

Game four between Asheville and Winston-Salem is set for Friday night. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. from Truist Stadium.
