Sanchez's homer powers West Virginia to series win

CHARLESTON, WV (June 29, 2018) - A sixth-inning two-run homer from Lolo Sanchez combined with a quality start from Domingo Robles led the Power to a 5-3 win in the series rubber match over the Hickory Crawdads Friday evening at Appalachian Power Park.
With the Power holding a 3-2 lead in the sixth, Sanchez smacked a two-run bomb over the left field wall, his third of the season, off Jean Casanova to give West Virginia (6-2, 43-31) a 5-2 lead that they would not relinquish.

Robles (6-4) worked six innings in his team-leading eighth quality start of the season. The southpaw allowed just two runs while striking out four and setting down the last 11 batters he faced.
Beau Sulser twirled two innings of one-run ball in relief of Robles, while Matt Seelinger (S, 7) closed out the game for West Virginia, earning his second save of the series. The New York native struck out a pair of Crawdads (4-5, 34-43) to give him 38 strikeouts on the season, one more than his season total last year in the New York-Penn League.
Trailing 2-0 after Pedro Gonzalez's two-run jack in the second, the Power scratched their first two runs across in the fourth inning after Rodolfo Castro worked a two-out walk. Next, Ryan Peurifoy doubled to left to drive in Castro and close the deficit to one. Kyle Watson followed that up with an RBI double of his own to score Peurifoy and tie the game at two.
West Virginia took the lead for good in the fifth when Fabricio Macias greeted Casanova with a double to center field that brought in Oneil Cruz, who had walked to begin the frame against Hickory starter A.J. Alexy (2-7).
The Power now hits the road to Hagerstown Saturday to begin a four-game set with the Suns. First pitch of game one from Historic Municipal Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m. RHP Hunter Stratton (3-3, 5.83 ERA) gets the nod for West Virginia, while Hagerstown counters with righty Tomas Alastre (3-2, 4.68 ERA). Following a four-game trip in Maryland, the Power return home Wednesday, July 4, to open up a six-game homestand against the Lexington Legends and the Hagerstown Suns.
