COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - The West Michigan Whitecaps played as the Beer City Bung Hammers on Saturday night and were trying to celebrate the rich history of craft beer in Grand Rapids with a victory. The Great Lakes Loons had other ideas and took game one of a three-game series, 6-2, to win their sixth straight ballgame.

With the Loons already ahead 1-0 in the third inning, Cuadrado collected the second of his three hits by platting two on a single against starter
Cuadrado's three hits were tied for the most he's had in a game this year. Amaya also had three hits marking the fifth time he has accomplished that this season. Meanwhile, Roller's seven total bases tied his Loons career-high.
Martinez (W, 8-1) went six 2/3 innings without allowing a run before, on the final pitch of his night, he gave up a two-run blast to 2019 Tigers sixth-round pick Cooper Johnson. The Loons have now won nine of Martinez' 10 starts this year.
