(Charleston, SC - May 31, 2017)- The West Virginia Power took the rubber game over the Charleston RiverDogs by a final score of 5-3. Four of the five runs scored for the Power came on home runs.

The RiverDogs took the lead early against James Marvel. Isiah Gilliam led off the bottom of the third with a single to center for Charleston's first hit. With Gilliam on second, Diego Castillo drove in the game's first run.
West Virginia responded immediately against Nick Nelson and the RiverDogs. With two on and two out in the top of the fourth, Trae Arbet would launch a three-run home run just out of the reach of a leaping Estevan Florial. The Power took a 3-1 lead on Arbet's seventh long ball of the season.
The Power added another in the fifth as Ty Moore circled the bases on a Clark Eagan single. Kevin Mahala would knock his first Power home run in the top of the sixth to increase West Virginia's lead to 5-1.
Oddy Nunez, who relieved for Marvel beginning in the fifth, surrendered a pair of earned runs in the bottom of the sixth but the Power hung on to win day baseball at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park 5-3. Nunez (1-4) earned his first Power win while Nelson (0-5) suffered his fifth loss.
West Virginia continues their seven-game road swing by heading to Rome, Georgia to take on the Rome Braves. Game one is set for 7:00 P.M. on Thursday. Catch the call on the Power Baseball Network.
