(Grand Junction, CO) - Caleb Scires had five hits, including a home run, and Jeremiah Jackson blasted of pair of homers in an Owlz 8-4 win over the Rockies in the series opener in Grand Junction on Thursday.

(Grand Junction, CO) - Caleb Scires had five hits, including a home run, and Jeremiah Jackson blasted of pair of homers in an Owlz 8-4 win over the Rockies in the series opener in Grand Junction on Thursday.

Scires opened the scoring by blasting a solo homer in the second inning to give the Owlz a 1-0 lead. Scires homer would be the first hit of a five-hit game, the first for an Owlz player in 2019. 
After the Rockies took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning, Jeremiah Jackson hit his first of two homers, driving one over the right field wall to tie the game at two. Two batters later, David Clawson put the Owlz back in front with a double scoring Jose Verrier, putting the Owlz in front, 3-2.
Once again, the Rockies tied the game, this time in the fourth inning thanks to a Julio Carreras RBI single. 
Jackson once again, gave the Owlz a lead, hitting his second home run of the game, putting the Owlz back in front 4-3 in the fifth. Jackson's multi-homer game was his second this season. Will Wilson gave the Owlz some breathing room, smacking a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Grand Junction got back to within two runs in the eighth on a Carreras home run. Anthony Mulrine then drove in two runs on a pop up lost in the lights, giving the Owlz an 8-4 lead in the top of the ninth.
Zac Kristofak (1-1) earned his first professional win while Anderson Amarista (0-2) was charged with the loss. The Owlz and Rockies finish a quick two-game series on Friday night at 6:40 as Sadrac Franco makes the start for the Owlz against Alex Haynes of the Grand Junction Rockies.
