Holding the second-best record in the New York Penn League, the Scrappers open a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles affiliate Aberdeen IronBirds (15-22) on Friday at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

Mahoning Valley trails the Hudson Valley Renegades (25-13) by 0.5 games for the league's best record. They lead the Pinckney Division by 5.0 games over the Auburn Doubledays (19-18) and by 8.5 games over the Batavia Muchdogs (16-22). Meanwhile, Aberdeen is chasing three teams, including Hudson Valley, in front of them in the McNamara Division. Aberdeen checks into Friday 9.5 games bacl of the Renegades, and they are 5.5 games back of the Staten Island Yankees for the league's Wild Card spot.
