Sea Dogs Welcome Maine Female Athletes, Sadie Armstrong and Alana LaCourse

Come meet Sadie Armstrong and Alana LaCourse, two of Maine’s top young female athletes. Armstrong, age 18, is a softball player at Portland High School where she led the team in several pitching and hitting categories, including setting the school record for home runs in a season (6). This year

Come meet Sadie Armstrong and Alana LaCourse, two of Maine’s top young female athletes.

Armstrong, age 18, is a softball player at Portland High School where she led the team in several pitching and hitting categories, including setting the school record for home runs in a season (6).

This year she will play her final season at Portland High School and then play Division I college softball at Longwood University in Virginia.

She ranks in the Top 20 in her class with nearly a 4.0 grade point average. She also volunteers to support youth sports in the community and is a certified Little League umpire. Sadie also plays the violin.

She is a member of Pliable’s Mission E50 to increase the popularity and access to women’s sports. She has already raised more than $2,000 to create a scholarship program to provide girls with more opportunities to play college softball.

Alana LaCourse, is an alpine skier, model and dancer at Gould Academy in Bethel. On the slopes, Alana has been ranked as high as 5th in the U14 Girls Maine Alpine Race Association standings.

As a model, she plans to compete for Miss Maine Outstanding Teen and many different talent and beauty competitions during her career. Alana enjoys the arts, including dance and playing the Ukulele. She danced this spring at the Waldo Theatre.

In the classroom, Alana's favorite subject is math and has a 3.90 GPA. She is also passionate about helping the less fortunate and being a good role model for children.

She is also a member of Pliable’s Mission E50 to increase the popularity and access to women’s sports. She plans to create a ski equipment donation program to provide equipment to those in need.

Armstrong, a life-time Portland Sea Dogs fan, will throw out the first pitch. Both Sadie and Alana will meet fans and sign autographs on the concourse during the 1st and 2nd innings.
